Zoom call with the Picker Pals on Wednesday in Mrs. Sheahan's class. We learned all about taking care of our environment by picking up litter and how to litter pick safely: Always use the picker, wear gloves, wear a high vis vest, stay with your grown up and don't pick anything sharp or harmful. If you are not sure, ask your adult.
Children displaying their self portraits and great excitement for one family as their Rhode Island Red Hen laid her first egg.
“Green Day Celebrations” for the recent Green Schools flag and we achieved for the “Travel” theme. Pupils wore green and had a great day with lots of fun activities. We raised the Green Flag and planted Daffodil and Tulip bulbs, Winter flowers, Oregano, mini Butterfly Bush, Sedum, Olive Tree and Scots Pine evergreen Conifer one of Ireland’s native coniferous trees. We were delighted to receive the Scots Pine Conifer from the Tree Council of Ireland which coincided with Tetra Pak Tree Day. A very big congratulations to the entire Green Schools Committee who worked hard implementing changes around the school. Also to parents and the entire school community for supporting the work of the Green Schools Committee and making our school and grounds a beautiful and environmentally friendly place to be. #Carriganima #Clondrohid #Macroom #Millstreet #primaryschool #education #happykids #fun #travel #plants #treeweek2020 #nationaltreeweek #tetrapaktreeday #ecofriendly Coillte #sustainable @GreenSchoolsIre @3council
Today, we had lots of fun learning how to make banana bread which was delicious.
First, we washed our hands and we talked about the importance of being hygienic when we are baking and cooking. We all got a turn at weighing, measuring and mixing the ingredients. We worked in teams and learned how to use a weighing scales. We really enjoyed mashing up the bananas with a fork and stirring the mixture before it went in the oven. When it was ready, we all got to taste our baking. It was yummy! Many thanks to Mrs. Sheahan for organising it for us and also for the new aprons. See recipe below for Banana Bread

Today we all had a go at baking scones. We really enjoyed getting our hands messy and eating the freshly baked scones with butter and jam. They were yummy. We can’t wait for the next baking day in 2 weeks time. Thanks to Ms. Lynch for organising it and helping us to bake them. Leave us a comment to let us know What is your favourite recipe?
We enjoyed baking today in our new room. The room was filled with wonderful aromas of marshmallows melting and fresh cookies baking. We really enjoyed decorating our own cookie and they were yummy.
Mrs. Dineen and Ms. McDonagh also decorated their own cookie. A big thank you to Sarah for showing us how to bake them. On Friday 8th June 2018, Mr. Newman’s class enjoyed an Art lesson outside. Wednesday 23rd May 2018, Ms Morton organised some fun lessons for us to go outside.
We really enjoyed learning outdoors on a beautiful sunny day.
Today we made red and green coloured play-doh with Ms. Lynch.
The food ingredients we used were flour, salt, water, cooking oil and food colouring. First, we measured the flour and put it in a bowl with salt. Then we added the food colouring, cooking oil and water. We mixed all the ingredients together and flattened it with our hands to knead it. We made different shapes and designs and practiced making letters with the play-doh. Leave us a comment Did you ever make play-doh? We had great fun today in the local Astro Pitch and running track.
Mrs. Dineen had a surprise for us this morning, She got us Giant Polydron building sets which are chunky, bright coloured squares and triangles that snap together..
We made a lot of different shapes and designs and had great fun playing with them. We can use them indoor or outdoor. A fun draughts tournament took place between the pupils in Mr. Newman’s class. As with every other activity, we were all encouraged to participate. A high level of concentration was required and there was a great excitement build up as each player progressed from round to round. We really enjoyed it. Well done to all who took part. Ms. Lynch showed us how to make pancakes.
First we got all the equipment and ingredients that we needed. Then we weighed the flour and added an egg and milk and then we mixed it all into a bowl until it was creamy and smooth. After that, we put the pan on the hob and put a small amount of oil in the pan. We poured some pancake mixture into the pan and when the bottom side of the pancake was golden we flipped it over. Next, we waited until that side was golden and then we put it onto our plates. Then, we put sugar on our pancakes and we ate them. They were really yummy and we had so much fun.
