On Friday 20th April 2018, we had a very interesting visit from Archaeologist, Deirdre McCarthy.
Deirdre has worked in archaeology, folklore and history in Ireland for nearly 20 years.
She discussed Ireland's unique archaeology with the children before focusing in detail on the archaeological
sites in close proximity to the school.
She showed us a slideshow which included many different types of old and broken pieces of pottery, ringforts, skeleton bones and ancient structures which were found.
This allowed the children to interact with and learn about the archaeology on their doorstep.
They were very enthusiastic and Deirdre was very impressed by their knowledge.
There may be some future archaeologists among us, watch this space.
